From Fireside Chats to Handcrafted Art — How Pine and Pebble Studio Began

From Fireside Chats to Handcrafted Art — How Pine and Pebble Studio Began

Some of the best things in life start around a fire.

Last summer, my good friend Ally became my neighbour — and somewhere between the crackling wood and the sound of Georgian Bay in the background, Pine and Pebble Studio was born.

We didn’t set out to start a business. We just started talking. About the beauty around us — the birch trees, the wildlife, the way the light hits the water on a still morning. About how much we loved this little corner of Ontario. And about how we both had this itch to make things. To take something raw and natural and turn it into something that tells a story.

The ideas came fast. They always do when two creative minds get going around a fire.

Before long, the garage had quietly transformed into something else entirely. Pieces of driftwood collected from the tiny beaches along our shoreline. Reclaimed wood with decades of character in every grain. Weathered planks that had lived a whole life before they found their way to us. We couldn’t stop collecting — and we couldn’t stop creating.

We live in Tiny, Ontario. If you’ve never been, picture this: a township dotted with some of the most beautiful freshwater beaches in Canada, tucked along the southern shores of Georgian Bay. It’s the kind of place that slows you down in the best possible way. The kind of place that makes you notice things — the texture of driftwood, the colours of a sunset over the water, the quiet magic of nature doing its thing.

That’s the world that inspires every piece we make.

Ally and I are both nature lovers at heart, and that shows up in everything — from the materials we choose to the designs we create. We don’t use new wood when reclaimed wood has so much more soul. We don’t chase trends when the Georgian Bay shoreline gives us all the inspiration we’ll ever need.

Pine and Pebble Studio is still young, still growing, and we are so excited about what’s ahead. Every piece we make carries a little bit of this place — the pines, the pebbles, the fire, the friendship, and the belief that beautiful things can come from the most natural of beginnings.

Thanks for being here with us. 🍁
